The city of Olomouc lies on the alluvial plain of the Morava river, in the heart of the so-called Haná region of Moravia, the eastern part of the Czech Republic. Global geographic position of the town centre is 49°45´ N 17°15´ E.
The currency in Czech Republic is czech crown (Kč, CZK, approx. CZK 25/EUR, CZK 16/USD). Czech Republic is one of the European union countries where the Euro isn´t valid yet, but it is accepted at some stations, in hotels, stores and restaurants (the exchange rate may not be very good, though).
Travel to Olomouc
When travelling by train, you get from Prague Airport to the main railway station “Hlavní nádraží” or railway station “Holešovice” best (and cheapest) by the city public transport (CZK 26 anywhere in Prague, tickets available in marked newspaper kiosks and shops or in ticket dispensers/slot machines at the bus, tram or metro/underground stops, we recommend bus #119 to station “Dejvická”, from there metro/underground route A to station “Muzeum” and change for route C to the main railway station “Hlavní nádraží” or the railway station “Nádraží Holešovice”). You can also use the direct bus line “Airport Express (AE)” to “Nádraží Holešovice” (tickets can be bought from the bus driver for CZK 45). Other forms of transport from the airport are taxi and outsourced services (CZK 25/km, approx. 20 km).
Olomouc is an important railway intersection in the country, with several connections to other cities and larger towns running daily. It is comfortably accesible from Prague within tree hours, trains run every hour or two. You can use most of the train connections without a seat reservation, however, in the “SC Pendolino” trains a seat-reservation ticket is mandatory. Use IDOS for looking up a connection. The main railway station in Olomouc is located near to the city centre.
Since the city is situated on the intersection of two key national and international motorways, motorway connections to Olomouc are excellent:
From Prague (280 km far from Olomouc) preferably use motorway E50 (E65, D1) to Brno and then E462 (D1 and then R46) from Brno (80 km) to Olomouc. Or you can use motorway E67 (D11) to Hradec Králové and then expressway E442 (R35) from Hradec Králové.
From Vienna (200 km) use E58 (A4 and A6) in Austria and E65 (D2) in Slovakia to Brno.
From Ostrava (100 km) use expressway E462 (R35).
Note that the use of Czech motorways and expressways is subject to the motorway fee.

Reaching the conference location
The building of the Art Centre is located in the halfway of the street “Univerzitní”, house number 3. From the square (and the tram station) “Náměstí Republiky” you can get there (see the map aside) by going upwards the street “Denisova” towards the city centre, passing by The Church Of The Virgin Mary Of The Snow (“Kostel Panny Marie Sněžné”), slipping through the ess passage and heading slightly left uphill a narrow street, which is exactly the “Univerzitní” street. After about 100 meters you reach the main entrance door of the Art Centre on your left side. There will be a conference flyer on the door.
Inside the building there will be posters with arrows guiding you directly to the conference room (Corpus Christi Chapel, at the ground floor).
